An Idea is Born
The idea for FridgeFreeze refrigerator/freezers was born on a sizzling 122-degree day when Australian Jay Black decided his propane-powered refrigerator wasn't performing well in Australia's unforgiving Outback. Jay, an industrial electrician, decided then and there to build a portable refrigerator/freezer that could freeze food and drink even in intense heat and stand up to the relentless abuse of the Outback's rugged terrain. Jay also decided the unit must be the world's most efficient portable refrigerator/freezer!
A Unique Condenser Design

So Jay built and patented a unique design that employed the outside casing as the condenser, making the unit extremely efficient and durable and ensuring outstanding performance in extreme heat. He combined this design with an anodized aluminum casing, stainless steel hardware, three inches of high-grade polyurethane insulation, and the Danfoss compressor. The result? A great-performing, rugged, and highly-efficient portable refrigerator/freezer.
Creating a Business
After completing the design, Jay and his brother-in-law formed a partnership to build the units. They also started building vaccine refrigerator/freezers, which have been sold worldwide. Jay still manufactures each unit by hand in San Diego, California, but now he has some employees to help.
Today, the business is growing every year, and the vaccine refrigerator/freezers are selling faster than FridgeFreeze can build them. State and county health departments, mobile health clinics, hospitals, diabetes patients, and researchers worldwide use the FridgeFreeze vaccine refrigerator/freezers to safely transport and store medical supplies, vaccines, blood and more. And, of course, boaters, off-road race teams, jeepers, campers, the US Army, and the US Air Force all use FridgeFreeze refrigerator/freezers to keep their food and drinks icy cold on land, lakes, and seas.
